Greetings Family and Friends,
It's been a while since I sent an update and I appreciate the recent nudges to get more information out. We are making great progress here and Dad will be home soon!
On Tuesday, May 11, Dad moved from Hopkins Hospital to Roland Park Place, a retirement community with a rehab center that is 4 blocks from my home. It has been wonderful to have him right down the street so that I can check in on him once or twice a day. He has received both physical and occupational therapy every day and he has gotten stronger and stronger! He's started working on climbing stairs and we are taking walks outside.
Yesterday, we met with the care team and are planning for his discharge to home by next Thursday (May 27). He will continue to have physical and occupational therapy at home for a while and we anticipate that he will be referred to a Cardiac Rehabilitation program during his post surgical follow-up appointment on June 10.
One of the most challenging issues during his recovery is that he developed painful sores in his mouth. This has finally resolved and he is able to enjoy eating again. Huge relief!
We look forward to beginning to have some visitors once we get home and get settled.
Much love to each of you!
Hannah
