HI,
My system involves large no. of I/Os.
I want to install a mxi interface card in a PXI chassis (18 slots with 8106 RT controller). Further this card shall interface with 14 slot chassis consisting of MXI interface in first slot. This is shown in the attached figure also. Please let me know, is this kind of configuration allowed?
Has any body configured PXI - MXI in this way? Or will I need to have minimum (ex. 8 slot) chassis instead of 18 slots chassis?

Thanks in advance!

ITA,
The configuration you've shown will work with MXI-4 (PXI-8331 or PXI-8336).  However, it would be better to place the top MXI card in the first segment (slots 2-6) to get better bandwidth to the second chassis.
You should also consider how much bandwidth the system will need.  With a large number of cards the PCI bus gets less efficient.
Another option for the second chassis is to use MXI Express (NI ExpressCard-8360 and NI PXI-8360) from the ExpressCard slot on the 8106.  This will give more bandwidth to the second chassis without taking away from the first.
Best of luck.
