MAX could not load LVBroker.dll

Hello,
NI-488.2 Version 2.4 and MAX 4.0 were installed on a computer (WinXP), because of a GPIB problem we installed the latest NI GPIB driver NI-844.2 Version 2.52 that also upgraded the MAX software to Version 4.2.1.
Now, a message always pops up when starting the MAX software: unable to load C:\Programme\National Instruments\Shared\LabVIEW Broker\LVBroker.dll.
Having a look at the given path, it exists and the mentionned dll is available.
What is the problem, kow can this situation be regularised?
