Another change with Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay is making monsters easier to reach, something some players had trouble with in previous games. Capcom also hopes the new Seikret mounts will make navigation a bit easier.

Capcom has pulled back the curtains on Monster Hunter Wilds, revealing gameplay in a brand new trailer that aired during today's PlayStation State of Play. In this trailer, we watch a monster hunter ride through a treacherous sandstorm on the back of a mount before starting a fight with a lion-like bear creature, and as you might expect, it looks great.

This is our first look at Monster Hunter Wilds since its reveal at The Game Awards 2023 last December. Those with Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne save date will get exclusive in-game rewards. The trailer also reiterates that Monster Hunter Wild hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2025.

May 2024's PlayStation State of Play has given us all a fresh look at Monster Hunter Wilds in the form of the first gameplay trailer. Yep, buckle up MH fans, here's more stuff to get you hyped up for the game that a leaker claimed earlier this year wouldn't even be delayed even if GTA 6 happened to drop around the same time as it.

This latest trailer follows-up the reveal we got of Wilds at last year's The Game Awards, and comes after Capcom shared that the Monster Hunter series as a whole has now soared past the 100 million sales mark. Fair to say it'll have a lot of eyes on it , then.

This Wilds trailer featured a fairly brief, but nevertheless decent look at gameplay. It looks like there's a much bigger emphasis on environmental interactions, which the hunter can be seen using to trap monsters and shift the battle to their favour.

The footage showed off some bits of narrative, but most of it focused squarely on gameplay, with the hunter wielding a great sword, and a gunlance. The trailer also confirmed that players with save files from Monster Hunter World and its Iceborne expansion will receive bonuses in Wilds when it releases, though seemingly only on the same platform.

So, if you're a fan of, well, monster hunting, hopefully that'll help tide over your appetite for Monster Hunter until 2025 finally rolls around and Wilds flies - like a big bird creature - into our lives for real.

If you're still struggling to hold out after rewatching it several times, why not get some more Monster Hunter goodness by reading some of our words discussing how Monster Hunter Now, and Monster Hunter World stack up in 2024.

It is time to sharpen your blades, stock up on potions, and eat a hearty meal, because a new hunt is approaching. Monster Hunter Wilds was revealed at The Game Awards 2023, and it looks to be the biggest and baddest entry in the entire hunting genre.

Our official reveal trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds showcases some massive environments with equally massive monsters inhabiting it. We follow a character racing atop some new monster mount as a stampede of monsters chases them through the desert and a massive wall of clouds approaches. This causes a lightning storm, only further adding to the chaos. In total, it is a very brief tease with a lot left to speculate on.

The reveal trailer lacked what most would hope for, which is actual monster hunting. Instead, we do get hints at some new mechanics. Mounts have been in the series before, but this new one also looks far more nimble as it leaps and bounces around the environment, as well as glides. Considering the size of the world, mounts are likely to be an essential part of your hunting experience.

The gameplay trailer shows some new tactics, like triggering traps you can lure monsters into while riding your mount or luring them into environmental hazards. The biggest change is how you can store additional weapons on your mount and switch them mid-hunt. Normally, you would need to return to base camp to change your primary weapon but can now take at least two on a hunt to be more adaptable.

Fans of a galaxy far, far away are finally getting the games they've always wanted. After the less-than-ideal handling of the Star Wars franchise by EA up until the two Star Wars Jedi games, fans have been eager to explore new stories in this vast universe, as well as lore that isn't addressed in the films.

The first to take a crack at it in a big-budget title is going to be Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment with the new Star Wars Outlaws. This franchise has a huge history, tons of lore, and devoted fans picking apart every detail. If you want to know where this new adventure is going to take you, turn off your targeting computer, trust in the Force, and check out everything we know so far about Star Wars Outlaws.
Release date
Star Wars Outlaws will arrive on August 30, 2024.

Every new Zelda game feels like an event, and yet Nintendo managed to keep a new mainline entry hidden almost all the way up until its release. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is not the size and scale as the 3D entries like Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom -- it's actually the long-awaited continuation of Zelda's 2D titles. The last game we got in this style was 2019's Link's Awakening, which was a remake of the 1993 Game Boy title.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom caught the attention of everyone at the June Nintendo Direct where it was announced for many reasons, chief among them being Zelda taking on the starring role instead of Link. The perspective and style might look familiar, but there's a lot to learn about Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom before you jump back into Hyrule.
Release date
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be released on September 26, 2024.

One of Nintendo's lesser-known yet still beloved franchises is Metroid -- a series that originally began on the NES, putting us in the shoes of bounty hunter Samus Aran. Now, over 35 years later, fans are eagerly awaiting the next entry in the series, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which has been in the works for several years.

The Prime series takes the formula introduced in the 2D games and turns it into a 3D, first-person adventure that still very much feels like Metroid, despite the perspective shift. Hype for the next installment in the series has found new life now that the original Metroid Prime is available to play on the Nintendo Switch. While there isn't much we know about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, there are some small tidbits of information around the internet here and there. It's possible that Metroid Prime 4 could be one of the headline titles for the Nintendo Switch 2. We've scoured as much as we could find to bring you everything we know about Metroid Prime 4.

Capcom showed up during the May 2024 PlayStation State of Play to provide a new look at Monster Hunter Wilds, the next entry in the long-running Monster Hunter franchise that was first announced back during the Game Awards 2023. You can check out the first look at gameplay in Monster Hunter Wilds below:

This first look at the gameplay shows massive open spaces to explore, with dense herds and packs of creatures roaming the land. We also get to see how some iconic weapons look in action, as well as a brief glimpse of the improved character models of some of our companions in this vast land.

Players returning from the prior big entry in the series, Monster Hunter World, as well as its 2019 Iceborne expansion, can look forward to some nifty bonuses as long as they've got their save data. Here's the details on what you'll get for being a veteran player:

I absolutely loved Monster Hunter World (which my introduction to the series) so of course I'm looking forward to Monster Hunter Wilds. Despite not having played a game in the franchise before Monster Hunter World, I instantly took to the combat and playstyle, and it's not hard at all to understand why Monster Hunter World became Capcom's best-selling game of all time, with over 20 million copies sold since launch.

From this glimpse of the gameplay in Monster Hunter Wilds, it looks like more of what I enjoyed previously, with fun, thoughtful combat in an open space filled to the brim with powerful creatures. I definitely hope we learn more soon, but I'm confident this'll be a fantastic experience. I'm also curious what monsters will be returning from World and who will be missing out in the Wilds. There's some seemingly obvious answers, but very little confirmed so far.

While we wait for more information, be sure to check out this analysis of the first trailer from my colleague Alexander Cope, who goes over a few details that players might've missed when watching the reveal a few months ago.

Monster Hunter World is a complex game with a number of interlocking systems that are not well explained. The game throws a lot at you from the start and makes it easy for new players to miss how all the systems work together. The result is often confusion, frustration, boredom and moving on to another game where shooting stuff or slaughtering zergs is straightforward. This guide is intended to help new players avoid that experience by explaining how the different types of quests in MHW work together.
