Well, you can use the standalone remote control tool by copying just 3 files instead of one that Ivanti uses? Or Am I missing something here? The following are the three files required and these files can be located in the admin console installation folder.

In Teams,if you want to share desktop/give control to support person, you need to make audio/video call then have control which is bit inconvenient for users to be on call. So until Microsoft bring something to this feature, we depend on SCCM remote control functionality (If you have Configmgr in the infra) .

I know many of the organisations out there will be using Microsoft SCCM remote control primarily by helpdesk/desktop but we decided to make this SCCM Remote control tools available on each user desktop support technician and also IT people as standalone without sccm console.

Many blog post there on the internet on how to SCCM remote control without being install SCCM Console. Reference Jörgen Nilsson post -configuration-manager-2012-remote-control-standalone/ and many others .

These files are being copied from SCCM Build 1802 or lower but it works fine irrespective of client version matches this remote control version or not .Give a try ,if you have any issues ,get the right files from your SCCM server that is installed in your infra.

With this ,every support technician can use SCCM remote control to troubleshoot issues . (For successful remote control ,make sure the client is healthy ,active and required firewall ports are opened from the console to client)

From time to time I get the question to install the CM Remote Tools standalone. I wrote a blog post about how to run it standalone a couple of years ago. In that blog post a comment on how to add a registry key normally added by the Admin console setup will make the audit logging to Configuration Manager work. -configuration-manager-2012-remote-control-standalone/
I wrote a simple PowerShell script to install the CM Remote Tools standalone, add a shortcut to the Start Menu and set the registry key.

I mean someone who only has the CmRcViewer.exe, RdpCoreSccm.dll and the 00000409 folder with CmRcViewerRes.dll inside, the standalone install with zero configuration or console installed. I've run the exact report and query you're referring to, all it shows is my sessions from the console none of the remote standalones.

Thanks Anoop, I mean without a site server, sorry about that :). I typed it wrong the first time. We have an Azure AD without on prem AD. We are not planning to run SCCM but like to use the remote viewer.

After some digging I found that when the SCCM 2012 console is installed, it includes a utility called cmrcviewer.exe. This is the main EXE that's used to make this connection from the console. With a little bit of ingenuity you can remove the console completely and just provide your users with a shortcut to this EXE to allow them to remote to computers without the console at all! Here's how to do it.

Once they type in the computer name, the remote tools EXE should then take over and allow them to remotely control the computer. One thing to note is that doing this does not prevent them from overriding any restrictions you may have in place. This means that if the user does not have permissions to remote to the computer normally through the console they will not be able to remote control the computer via this method either.

Remote Control is a feature of Configuration Manager using which a machine can be remotely controlled without the need of a user being logged on at that time. Remote Control is an SCCM console feature allowing you to take control of a managed computer.

The Remote Assistance leverages the Windows feature, requests a session with the currently logged-on user, and allows for in-session chat. During SCCM Remote assistance, the user has to accept the request of the administrator and a machine cannot be remote controlled when no one is logged on.

Hi Prajwal, first I would like to thank you for your efforts to make understanding and working with sccm easy for us.I have a question, is remote assistence or remote control is going to work with computers joined to the domain but sitting outside the corporate network? I have some cases that some employees take their computers home and they need assistence. Thanks

You can make use of remote handle to troubleshoot hardware and software configuration issues on remote control client computer systems and to supply remote assist desk assistance when access to the users computer is certainly necessary.

To make use of remote handle on a customer personal computer, the Settings Manager 2007 manager must become included to the Permitted viewers listing in the Safety tab of the Remote control Tools Client Agent Qualities dialog container.

You can make use of the Construction Manager 2007 Remote control Tools Client Agent Properties dialog package to override user configured configurations for Remote control Desktop and Remote control Assistance, if you choose to use these strategies of remote administration.

I've install SCCM 2012 on a server and have successfully used the Remote Control option to take control of a system I've setup to be managed by SCCM. Now, I don't want to have to log in to a server every time I want to access this client...is there a way to run the Remote Control Viewer client on my desktop OS so I can take remote control of systems rather than having to remote in from the server? This seems like very basic functionality...but I haven't been able to figure it out thus far.

We are asked a lot both in a professional context and through this website about how first line techs can use the remote control functionality that Configuration Manager gives us without giving out access to the full Configuration Manager Console.

Once you have these in a new folder and you have named your new folder appropriately (i.e. ConfigMgr Remote Tool) then you can copy this to a USB drive or to any first line tech machine and simply run the cmrcviewer.exe file to start the remote tool.

Remotely accessing computers allows you to control those computers from your own desktop with (or in some cases without) the other users consent. System Center 2012 Configuration Manager offers three methods from within the console to remotely control other computers with the client agent installed.

Workgroup based computers pose their own challenges as they lack many of the security benefits of Domain membership and as a result lack access to resources. Before we can do anything with our workgroup clients (including remote control) we need our Configuration Manager client software installed but before we do that we have to prepare our clients for this installation by preparing them. As workgroup clients are not joined to a domain they will need some help to communicate with the Configuration Manager management point as they will not be able to retrieve these values from Active Directory and they may have no (or limited) access to DNS.

click on Set Viewers and add a local user with a password that matches a domain user that has access to the Console. In other words if you have a domain user called domain\RemoteUser1 and you want them to do the remote tools actions in the console, then you should also create a local user called RemoteUser1 on all your workgroup clients that you want to remotely control, this user must have the same password as the domain user.

System Center 2012 Configuration Manager makes life easier for the admin as they can easily manage and remote control computers in the enterprise. Many enterprises still have workgroup clients however and while those workgroup clients do pose setup challenges, it's still possible to use Remote Tools with Workgroup clients.

I can do a remote control, a remote desktop client BUT I cannot get remote assistance to work. It gives me an error message like: Your offer to help could not be sent. check the following ....etc etc.

4- i will enable the Cloud GW management soon on some primary sites ; i need to know if it will be applicable to install the client agent from internet directly and make a remote control session as well ?
