Dear Fellow Tennesseans,

As many of you may or may not know, Cobb, a subsidiary of Tyson's chicken, is planning to build a Confined Animal Feed Operation (CAFO) next to the oldest organic farm in Tennessee, Long Hungry Gnome Creek, that is farmed by Jeff Poppin, the barefoot farmer.  The waste from this operation will not only destroy the ecosystem in and around his farm but a long standing small business that provides high-quality produce to hundreds of families and individuals.  Fear not, we are organized!  This first thing that we are doing and need your help with is to start a letter writing campaign to Cobb industries to let them know that we believe this is bad business and bad for Tennessee.  If this is something that you would like to participate in please see the weblink below:

More importantly, we are raising money to file an injunction with the EPA because of the companies violation of the Clean Water Act.   This will require that we raise $5,000 dollars.  You can donate directly to the farm through this link to the Tennessee Clean Water Network.  They've generously allowed the farm to piggy back on their 501C3 status so you can get a tax right off for the donation.  If you really want to get something for your money, please join us this Saturday October 8th for the "Say No to Big Chicken Barn Dance".
