This might be a resource for those that want to learn about motors.
I have no affiliation nor do I know the quality of this presentation, but ST is a pretty big player in the market.

Hi Patrick,

Join ST for a 1-hour webinar to learn the basics of electric motors and the hardware and software elements that factor into their performance.

Electric motors are ubiquitous in systems today, and they help implement some of the most valued features included in applications ranging from low-power computer disk drives to high-performance electric vehicles.

In this session, we will start by discussing various electric motor types, their operating principles, and typical applications, progressing to an examination of the control techniques used to optimize motor efficiency and performance.

You will learn

  • How an electric motor works, the different types of motors, and where they are used
  • The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) typically considered for electric motors
  • How control algorithms factor into motor efficiency
  • How to compute the horsepower needed for an application
  • About hardware requirements (i.e. What power stages will I need? Will I need a gate driver?)
