It has been a long time since we pinged this group so I hope someone is
seeing this message:)
Lots has happened in the past couple of months at
NSS! We are in our new classroom facility. Cohort 3 is graduating on
March 14 and we have a job fair on March 15. And Cohort 4 started with
us in January.
To help you catch up with things at NSS, we're having a multi-part open house this coming Thursday, 13 March.
First,
we have coffee and donuts with NSS Cohort 4. This is the same event we
usually hold at RailYard Studios but since we have our own place we
thought we'd invite you to check it out. We're ready to start matching
cohort 4 with mentors so this is a great chance to meet the new class as
well as see the new facility. We'll open up at 8am on Thursday and
have coffee and donuts and bagels between 0800 and 10ish.
Second,
Cohort 3 is ready to show off their Rails capstone projects also on
Thursday. This class is graduating the end of this week. On Thursday
each student in the class (well, at least the ones that haven't already
started new jobs!) will demo their capstone project. For those of you
who have worked with these students we'd love you to come and see the
projects - for those of you who may be hiring it's a great time to come
and check out the talent that's coming available! We'll start demos as
soon as we finish up with the cohort 5 meet and greet, so around 1000 or
1015. I'll be bringing in something for lunch, probably pizza.
I will post more logistical details in a day or two but I
wanted to get this on your calendars now. Please drop by and meet the
students, see the demos and see our facility. We've also got plenty of
wifi and will set up some work tables so come hang out and code on
Thursday as well.
So where will this all be happening - our new
space is located at 283 Plus Park Blvd, Nashville, 37217. More
detailed directions will be posted to the group tomorrow or Tuesday.
We'll also post a sign-up page so that we can figure out how much
coffee, donuts and bagels we need to get.
We'd love to see you on Thursday even if you can only drop by for a few minutes.
And please feel free to share this among your coding friends - we're always looking for new mentors and friends in the community. So please help us spread the word.
