Here's more details on the open house at NSS this coming Thursday, 13 March.
Directions to our new facility are located at the bottom of this post.
Before I get into the details - please help us spread the word - let your programming friends know about the event and tell them we'd love to see them on Thursday. And if you are hiring - or know someone who is hiring - let them know too!
It's a two-part, all-day open house at NSS on Thursday:
Part 1 - come meet cohort 4 (the group that started in January) and see our new space. We usually meet at RailYard Studios to introduce mentors to students but since we've got a big space of our own now, it seems like a good time to let everyone know where we are. Some come meet cohort 4, check out the new space, and get an update on what's happening and what's planned at NSS for later this year.
We'll start around 8 or 0815 Thursday morning and go to about 0930 or 0945. Even if you can only drop by for 15 minutes, come see us and meet some students.
Coffee, donuts, bagels will be provided.
Part 2 - Cohort 3 is graduating this week! They are ready to show off their Ruby on Rails capstone projects. We'll start our demonstrations on Thursday morning about 15 to 30 minutes after the first part of the open house ends (basically as soon as we can clean up the mess and get chairs and tables organized). So figure on demos starting by 1015 to 1030. OK, figure on 1030.
We'll bring in some pizza for lunch.
If you have mentored one of these students, come support your mentee. If you're looking for a great junior developer, there are a bunch of them in this class so come and see what they've been up to (and talk to me about our job fair).
Directions follow:
Nashville Software School's address is 283 Plus Park Blvd, Nashville, 37217. This is near the junctions of I-440, I-24 and I-40 just east of downtown on the way to the airport.
If you come from the south side of Nashville or from Williamson County you'll come north on I-65, take I-440 east all the way to I-24. Take the ramp from I-440 to I-24 as if you were going to the airport. There is an exit to Murfreesboro Road off the ramp from 440 to 24 - take that ramp to Murfreesboro Road. At the bottom of the ramp turn right on Murfreesboro Road heading away from downtown. Stay in the far right-hand lane and take a right at the first stop light - that is Plus Park Blvd.
Take Plus Park Blvd up the hill and then back down the hill. 283 Plus Park Blvd will be on the right hand side of Plus Park Blvd about 2/3 of a mile from Murfreesboro Pike. It is the last commercial building on Plus Park Blvd. before the road goes into an apartment complex. The driveway entrance to our building has a small sign at ground level with the name of a Spanish-language church that is in the building next to us so if you see the sign for Primera Iglesia Bautista that's the driveway where you turn right.
283 Plus Park Blvd is a plain grey one story commercial/industrial building with glass all along the wall facing the parking lot. If you face the building from the parking lot, our entry door is at the far right hand end of the building, as far away from Park Plus Blvd. as you can go. That's the only door we have a key to so it's the only door that will be propped open on the front of the building.

The front door actually
has a sign on it for Boys Prep charter school - they used the building a
year ago. There are no signs for Nashville Software School at this
point since we just moved in two weeks ago.
