Hey guys,
Vic Gatto from Solidus (the best local tech seed capital venture capital firm) and Jumpstart Foundry (Solidus sponsored tech startup accelerator) has extended an invitation for NSS graduates to attend the Jumpstart Foundry Pitch Day on Thursday, 22 August.
Pitch Day is when the companies that went through this summer's Jumpstart Foundry (JSF) accelerator program get a chance to do their investor pitch to an audience of angel investors, venture capitalists, other technologists and entrepreneurs, and other leaders of the local business community. It tends to draw a very large crowd of all sorts of people and it's an interesting opportunity to see how a select group of very early stage startups present themselves. This year Pitch Day has been moved to a 700 seat full TV production venue - last year it was at a 400 seat venue and completely filled the room.

http://ow.ly/nHdz2Many of the JSF companies are the types of startups that will be looking for additional developer help if they are able to build some traction in the market. So this is an early look at a few companies that will be hiring developers in a few months or next year. For those of you that have your own entrepreneurial aspirations this is an interesting peek into a part of that process. It's also a good networking opportunity.
One of this year's JSF companies,
gun.io, is aimed at helping freelance/contract developers get matched up with good projects opportunities so it could become a way for some of you to bid for project work or a way to combine with a more experienced developer to bid on projects. I'm working with the
gun.io guys to see if we can put together a private discussion for our graduates with the
gun.io guys but you might be interested in seeing their investor pitch.
