“QUIZ AND ELOCATION CONTESTS FOR CA STUDENTS ”
Nashik Branch of WICASA of ICAI is pleased to announce “Quiz and Elocution Contests ” for CA IPCC and final Level students. The contests will be organised at 9.30 am onwards on Sunday, 17th June 2012 at ICAI Bhavan, Nashik. A student who has qualified in the Final examination and completed articles / audit training is not eligible to participate. Last date of registration for contest up to 5.00 pm on 14th June 2012. Board of Studies organizes Quiz Contests and Elocution Contests at Branch level, Regional level and finally at the All India level every year, covering various subjects covered under CA curriculum. Students by participating in the Contest will get motivated to study various topics in greater detail and thereby it will improve their performance in the examination, apart from improving their communication skills. Elocution contest:- The Elocution contestants will be permitted to express their views for a maximum period of 12 minutes, depending on the number of participants on any of the selected subjects. The subjects may be chosen having regard to the areas of professional interest and recent developments.
Topics for Branch level Elocution Contests, 2012-13 1. Revised Schedule VI – A Step Towards IFRS. 2. XBRL – Towards Better Transparency? 3. Responsibilities of the Independent Director: Are We Going Too Far? 4. The Companies Bill 2011 – Towards Higher Levels of Transparency and Accountability. 5. Raising Money: Equity Market Vs. Debt Market. 6. External Coordination: An Excellent Procedure to Obtain Independent Audit Evidence. 7. Rationale of Taxation Initiatives in Curbing Black Money. 8. Inflation – A Curse for Indian Economy? 9. Detection of Cyber Crime. 10. Satellite Networks and Their Usage. The Quiz contests will be organized at Branch office and detailed guidelines are as follows. GUIDELINES (i) Students responded to the competition, will be divided into groups. Each group may consist of two students. (ii) There can be a maximum of 5 teams each team consisting of two students. If there are more participants the 5 teams will be selected by a process of elimination. (iii) There will be eight rounds of Quiz Contest covering the following areas: - Accounting - Auditing - Corporate Laws - Taxation - Direct and Indirect - Costing/Management Accounting/Financial Management - Information Technology - Economics - General Awareness Additionally, there will be a Rapid-Fire Round. (iv) Three questions will be asked in each round to each team. The students will be given 60 seconds for answering each of the questions.
(v) In each round, the questions will be addressed turn-by-turn to each team. For example, Q. No. 1 will be addressed to Team A. If Team A answers the question correctly, then Q. No. 2 will be addressed to Team B. If Team A does not answer Question No.1 correctly, the question will pass on to Team B. A question will pass once and there will be no subsequent passing. As usual, the Question No. 2 will be addressed to Team B, the Question No. 3 will be addressed to Team C and so on.
(vi) At the end, there shall be a Rapid Fire Round in which five questions will be addressed to each team. Each team will be given one minute to answer all the five questions instantaneously. Students may choose not to answer a question. There will be no passing in Rapid Fire Round.
(vii) Each question shall carry 5 marks. 2 marks shall be awarded for questions which have been passed.
(viii) Prizes and Certificates will be awarded to the winning team and the runner-up team.
For both the contests:- The medium of competition will be English. However, if any participant wants to speak in Hindi, he/she shall be permitted to speak in Hindi. The performance of the Contestants shall be evaluated by a panel of Judges as well as to regulate the time taken by each participant. The Winner and Runner ups of branch level competition will be awarded by Prizes and Certificates. The winners of the first round competition of the Branches and Regional Office levels will participate in a Regional level competition which will be held in each Regional Office on or before August 31, 2012. Winner of Regional Level competitions will participate at National Level. National level winner will be decided in National level competitions. Reimbursement of Travelling and Accommodation expenses for attending the Regional and National Level competition will be provided by Board of studied as per guidelines.
