Hey, functional geeks!

Our July meeting is two weeks from tonight, and it's time to start putting together an agenda. Have you got something to share, be it a language, library, triumph, trial, or word? Is there a discussion you're itching to start? Just reply here, and we'll get you on the program. No need to be an expert; no experience required. Just keep it functional, and we'll keep it friendly as always.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Calvin

Good morning!

I could talk a little about algebraic data types (ADTs). Not as heavy
as it sounds.

Sounds like we have our first winner! Thanks, Jason.

I'd be up for a short Word Time of some kind OR something else a bit random.

Sounds great, random or otherwise.

I've started prepping a Datomic (database built on Clojure principles by Clojure author) overview that I can share.

Okay, functional geeks, NashFP is this Tuesday night at 6pm at Emma, and the lineup is looking pretty great. Here's what we've got in store:

1. The return of Word Time With Perkins: will he at last debut the theme song?
2. Jason Orendorff on algebraic data types (not as heavy as it sounds)
3. Caleb Phillips on Datomic, a database built on Clojure principles by Clojure author Rich Hickey
4. Luke Sandell's F# implementation of Sticky Notes

Come on out for some coffee, snacks, conversation, and an escape from mutable state. See you there!

Sadly I've had family junk come up and can't make it tomorrow.  Cheers!

If someone were to provide hardware for recording nashfp meetings, would it be a feasible thing to do or would the setup / managing of the recording be onerous on volunteers?  Asking because my schedule has become stupid and every time I see one of these emails there's a longing to be there that the movement cost in time of atoms crushes.
