50 years ago today I was assigned to my first fire truck as a rescueman on Grosse Ile One a Navy MB-5 Crash Truck at Naval Air Station Grosse Ile. That started a career that at 68 I am still at thanks to the command at New Hanover County Fire and Rescue letting me hang in there.
