Thank you for this announcement. Because you were able to post this quickly I was able to travel up to Grosse Ile for Clare's memorial service this morning. I can report that she passed peacefully in the early hours of Christmas morning. The memorial service paid tribute to her many years of service to the island, and espically to the Grosse Ile Historical Society. Following the service there was a luncheon at the Grosse Ile Yacht Club where we talked about the vital role Clare played in the creation of the base museum and as co-author of the book about the base. Clare will be greatly missed. Her knowledge of the island's history is irreplaceable.

Wish I could have been there. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
