Dear colleagues,
I am acquainted with the use of the term Ishbīn/shabīn (الاشبين ) in the contexts of baptism or marriage. I wonder whether you have encountered this term used more generally as a title, or in other contexts.

I am particularly interested in its usage in later periods, Mamluk and Ottoman eras. Any examples or references to relevant secondary literature would be greatly appreciated.
