Dear colleagues,
I am pleased to briefly announce an upcoming series of seminars organized in Rome from July 8th to 19th, 2024. The program, entitled "Introduzione al mondo siriaco" and organized by Marco Pavan and myself, aims to introduce a group of Italian and international students (within the framework of a Summer School of Syriac organized by the Salesian Pontifical University and SYRIACA, the Italian Association of Syriac Studies) to the richness and complexity of the Syriac World.
The program (see the attached file) consists of more than 30 introductory presentations, with the goal of providing a comprehensive overview, involving mostly Italian scholars specialized in Syriac studies, Biblical studies, Arabic studies, Iranian studies, and more. The primary language of the seminars will be Italian, but interactions during question time will also be possible in English and French.
Thanks to the kindness of the Salesian Pontifical University, and especially Prof. Roberto Fusco, there will be an opportunity to follow the conferences online. If anyone is interested in receiving the link, please feel free to contact me at giovanni...@ugent.be. Each presentation is designed to introduce the Syriac World and is aimed at an audience of beginners from diverse backgrounds, including Classical Studies, Biblical Studies, Linguistics, and more.
