Dear All,
I am also very sad about the passing of Prof. Griffith. He was such a lovely person and inspiring scholar. I will never forget all his remarkable stories and the funny anecdotes that he told during conferences.
Once he started his conference paper by reading its title. After three quarters of a page, the title was still not finished and he hinted at the fact he was mocking himself. A more serious story was how the CIA put pressure on him to declare that there are no monasteries in Iraq and he refused.
A great loss for the Christian Arabic scholarly community.
