Dear Nascasiyyun,

The “Early Bird” discount for the 17th edition of the ABELAO Summer School has been extended until Thursday, April 30, 2026. You still have a few days left to benefit from the reduced fees. 34 participants have already registered via our website: https://www.abelao.be.

By registering before this date, you will help us with the organization of the summer session while enjoying a preferential rate:

€460 instead of €520 (standard rate)
€280 instead of €330 for participants under 30 years old

The summer school will take place in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) from 4 to 14 August 2026. It offers a wide range of courses in ancient and Oriental languages, with particular strength in the languages and textual traditions of the Christian East and Biblical studies.

📖 Courses offered While most courses are taught in French (many of which are “English-friendly”), we are pleased to offer several courses in English, making the programme accessible to an international audience.

Courses in French particularly relevant to Syriac Studies, the Christian East, and Biblical studies:

Syriac I & II
Ancient Armenian III
Coptic I
Biblical Greek II
Biblical Hebrew I & II
Gothic
Modern Standard Arabic
Old Ethiopic I

The full programme also includes Akkadian (in English), Ancient Egyptian, Hittite, Latin, Modern Persian (in English), Old Aramaic, Sanskrit, and Sumerian.
