Dear All,

I'm looking for literature on Arabic lectionaries, and checking older conversations in this group led me to Robert Turnbull's work on Sinai lectionaries (I assume he is still in this group - his work can only be praised), but I was wondering if there is any other similar work or is there anyone working on Arabic lectionaries? I also know that Frantsouzoff has an article titled 'Five Lives of Saints' but I could not find it online, if anyone has the PDF, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,
Adam

Hi, Ádám!

I'm sending the Five Lives by Frantsouzoff.

Best,

Alen

Hi, Alen!

Thank you so much, I just realized my email was confusing, because Frantsouzoff's article is obviously not related to lectionaries, I was just desperately looking for it, but again, I really appreciate it!

Best,
Adam

Hi Adam,
I have attached EAPE-2, one of the books we have published as an outcome of the ERC-funded TYPARABIC Project that I am conducting in Bucharest. Search the word "Lectionary" in the entire volume. The most relevant for you is Fr Rami Wakim's chapter, but Fr Andrew Wade and Yulia Petrova also discuss Arabic lectionaries. You may also find information in EAPE-1 and EAPE-4, which can be downloaded from the De Gruyter website. All volumes are accessible in Open Access.

Dear colleagues,

(1) Dear Arianna, merci pour l'article que tu nous as montré, j'en prends bonne note et je l'enregistre!

(2) For Adam: this contribution of mine might interest you, an Arabic Byzantine lectionary with, as to the text, a strong Old Syriac background; https://www.academia.edu/80550361/Le_Lectionnaire_dArsène_Sinaï_ar_117_début_du_XIIIe_s_un_recueil_de_péricopes_évangéliques_en_arabe_et_ses_rapports_avec_la_Vetus_Syra

I might find a few more documentation for you, but I need some more time to search in my files ;-)

Sincerely yours,

Jean V., Brussels

Dear Ádám and colleagues,

Thanks very much for all the emails below. I’m very grateful for the sharing of the PDFs.

I presented a paper at the European Academy of Religion a few years ago on Arabic Apostolos lectionaries at Sinai. I’m currently working to get that ready to publish with Duane McCrory who is currently finishing his PhD on Arabic versions of Romans.

I’ll be happy to share the PDF of the Sinai Apostolos lectionaries paper as soon as it is ready.

Kind regards,

Rob

Dear colleagues,

Here is another paper that I would Have loved to share with Adam, I know that it must have been somewhere in my house, but I do not find it any more...

H.J. De Jonge ‘Joseph Scaliger’s Greek-Arabic Lectionary (Leiden U.L., MS. Or. 243 = Lectionary 6 of the Greek New Testament,’ Quaerendo 5 (1975), pp. 143-172. Reprinted in Quaestiones Leidenses. Twelve Studies on Leiden University Library and Its Holdings [...] (Leiden: University Library, 1975), pp. 179-208.

I'd be pleased to read it again, and I am sure that Adam would be happy to read it too. Can someone send us a copy?

I will write more later. Have a good week!

Jean V., Brussels
