Dear NASCAS Members,

Gorgias Press is delighted to announce that The History of the ‘Slave of Christ’: From Jewish Child to Christian Martyr, by Aaron Michael Butts and Simcha Gross, was awarded Honorable Mention for the 2022 Mediterranean Seminar Prize for the Best Source Edition, Book Translation, or Essay Collection.
The award is the latest development in a supportive scholarly relationship between Gorgias Press and the authors. Aaron won the Gorgias Book Grant in 2006 and Simcha followed suit in 2016-17. The Book Grant provided both scholars with $500 worth (each) of Gorgias titles to aid their research.

Aaron said, "It has been a pleasure to collaborate with Simcha for more than a decade, and I look forward to future collaborations with him, including in the context of my upcoming project “BeInf – Beyond Influence: The Connected Histories of Ethiopic and Syriac Christianity,” which is funded by an ERC Consolidator grant. My relationship with Gorgias Press goes back even earlier, winning a Gorgias book grant in 2006, and it has been a very fruitful partnership with several volumes published over the years: a translation of Jacob of Serugh in 2009, the Gorgias Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Syriac Heritage in 2011, and The History of the Slave of Christ in 2016. Gorgias Press has been a tremendously supportive partner throughout my career, and I anticipate new projects together in the coming years."

Simcha said, “My forthcoming book, and the book I will be working on next year as a member of the School of Historical Study at the Institute for Advanced Study, will continue to include extensive work on Syriac Christian literature and history that is at least partially indebted to the support I received from Gorgias as both a book grant recipient and author.”

To celebrate the award and our ongoing partnerships, you'll find the title 30% off when you order from the Gorgias Press website before 10 July https://www.gorgiaspress.com/the-history-of-the-slave-of-christ

If members need any assistance with orders, or have any questions about any of our titles, please don't hesitate to get in touch - ge...@gorgiaspress.com
