Dear friends,

I recently came across a video showing the similarity between Christian prayer and Muslim prayer:

There is no description of the source of the video so I do not know how to investigate this topic further. If anyone has any further information or resources on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Arthur,
dear friends,

I wrote a paper on this issue and hid it well in the proceedings of the
North-American Academy of Liturgy. My focus was on parallels between
Muslim prayer and Coptic prayer, not considering Syriac prayer. Anyway:
You will find useful footnotes and see the problem of the sources
surrounding this topic.
See attached the version as published as well as a version with
non-messed-up Arabic script.

Yours

Martin

Is anyone able to check the following source:

A. J. Wensinck, Muhammad and the Jews of Medina, translated and edited by W. H. Behn, Berlin 1982. pp. 75-76

According to Wensinck, Muhammad drew inspiration for the practice of sujud (prostration) and ruku (bow) from Christian prayer.
