Dear friends and colleagues,

We are delighted to announce the second edition of the Summer School of Languages of the Christian East, organized by the Italian Association for Syriac Studies - Syriaca (represented by Giovanni Gomiero and Marco Pavan), together with the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome (represented by Roberto Fusco).

The Summer School will be held in Rome, on the Campus of the Salesian Pontifical University, from Monday, July 7th, to Friday, July 18th, 2025. It will last 10 days and consist of language classes in the morning and literature-culture seminars in the afternoon.

Expanding the successful Syriac course of last year, the School offers 8 courses: Arabic 1, Arabic 2, Armenian, Byzantine Greek, Hebrew 1, Hebrew 2, Syriac 1, and Syriac 2. Students will receive all the materials and the tools necessary for their attendance in morning classes and afternoon seminars. Though in-person participation is highly recommended, the possibility of attending the whole Summer School online will be provided (upon request).

The School will be held in Italian, but all teachers and invited speakers are available to switch to English if requested.

Registrations are open until 15/05, with a reduced fee (420 € in person, 520€ online) for early birds registering between 15/02 and 01/04. For those registering between 02/04 and 15/05, there will be no reduction (480 € in person, 580 € online).
