Former NASCAR race announcer now performing as magician: Bill Weber,
who was TNT’s lead NASCAR race announcer before being suspended before
a race in July and not returning, says he’s performing as a magician.
“It’s a passion I hope to turn into a profession,” says Weber, who
says his TNT contract wasn’t renewed. “I hope to continue sports
announcing, but this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.”
Weber, saying he worked some NBC motor sports last year, adds he’s
“waiting for NBC to get back from Olympics to see what motor sports
opportunities they might have.” (USA Today)

Rick Hendrick getting street named after him near Hall of Fame:
Visitors to the new NASCAR Hall of Fame might soon be able to take a
stroll along Rick Hendrick Way. The city of Charlotte is considering a
request to rename part of Brevard Street near the NASCAR Hall of Fame
in uptown after Charlotte businessman Rick Hendrick. Among his many
ventures, Hendrick is team owner of Hendrick Motorsports. No firm
decisions have been made, but officials are considering putting
Hendricks name on at least the one block of Brevard between Stonewall
and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Mayor Anthony Foxx said tonight.
Foxx told council members the change could be a way to help honor
Hendricks work in the community, including his philanthropic efforts.

Logano vs Biffle rivalry brewing? There’s another sign that Joey
Logano has fully arrived: a brewing rivalry with another driver.
Logano had the dominant car in the second-tier NASCAR Nationwide
Series race at Fontana on Saturday, where he led five times for 130 of
the 152 laps in the Stater Bros. 300. But in an overtime restart,
Logano lost the lead to Greg Biffle after Biffle, according to Logano,
gave him a shove from behind. Logano finished fifth. “I don’t know
what his deal is with me, but for some reason in California, [Biffle]
feels like putting me in the fence or hitting me toward the end. We
had an awesome race car that should have won the race,” Logano said.
Biffle, who lost the lead himself to race winner Kyle Busch on the
last lap, denied Logano’s charge and said Logano made “a rookie
mistake” by spinning his tires on the restart in front of Biffle. As
for intentionally trying to wreck Logano, Biffle said, “that’s
obviously not the case. I mean, if I wanted to do that, it’s pretty
easy to do.” In any case, Logano summed up the Biffle incident
sounding like a Cup veteran instead of a second-year driver. “I always
remember that stuff,” Logano said. (LA Times)

Earnhardt Jr. in bitter feud with Danica Patrick? A bitter feud has
erupted between gorgeous female race car driver Danica Patrick and her
NASCAR mentor, superstar Dale Earnhardt Jr. Dale, 35, is furious that
Danica has been telling people she’ll be a better NASCAR driver than
he is - and Danica is upset because she believes Dale is only using
her to make money and doesn’t respect her driving ability. “Dale is
livid at Danica for talking trash about him behind his back,” revealed
a source. “He feels he’s giving her entrance into the NASCAR world and
teaching her his tricks - and she’s saying how she can beat him. “It’s
rubbing Dale the wrong way. He hates being bad-mouthed by somebody he
feels owes him gratitude.”(National Enquirer)
