Danica Patrick finds her comfort zone back in an IndyCar: Danica
Patrick didnt need an entourage on Tuesday to manage a crush of
onlookers. At Barber Motorsports Park, IndyCars most popular driver
didnt need much in the way of security or PR assistants. There was no
sea of media people to part like she faced at Daytona as the newest
star of NASCAR. At Barber, where the IZOD IndyCar series is holding
its only preseason test session starting today, she could just pull up
a chair and have a chat with a handful of reporters. It illustrates
the two very different worlds she now travels between. I didnt
expect it to be quite so intense of a focus and following, Patrick
said of the crush of media that followed her in her NASCAR debut, but
thats part of what makes NASCAR exciting is that it is a big
platform. The relatively intimate setting at Barber on Tuesday, she
said, is just a sign that we have a long way to go to make this sport
more popular. Its definitely my comfort zone right now being in an
Indy Car, she said. I know the technical side of the car and all the
different changes that we can make to make it better. In a stock car,
she said, I didnt understand what it meant to drop the rear track
bar, referring to how a car is made tighter or looser. I didnt know
what that means, she said. I do now. Those are things that didnt
make any sense to me. (Birmingham News)

Earnhardt Jr. on Vegas: Just give me a good car and I can run real
good.: Lance McGrew replaced Tony Eury, and team owner Rick Hendrick
made improving Dale Earnhardts car a priority coming into this
season. We built a lot of new cars. We did a lot of hard work, Lance
especially, during the offseason to put us in a position to bring
better cars to this race and to Vegas, Earnhardt said. Just give me
a good car and I can run real good. He proved that at Daytona, a
performance that he hopes to repeat or improve on in Sundays Shelby
American at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where he was runner-up in 2003
and 2008. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
