The majority of economics are located on level J2. Many journals have now transitioned to e-only. The currently subscribed printed journal issues and volumes are also on level J2. The library's collection is systematically organized by subjects and further differentiated into thematic areas so that books on a particular topic are grouped together.
The student ID card also serves as your library card. To make reservations, access your library account, or place interlibrary loan requests, you will need an additional password. The password for your library account is the same as your university email password.
You can conduct searches within the library's collection using our local catalog, Libero. KonSearch is our literature search engine that allows you to search for articles, books, and other media in both electronic and print formats simultaneously. In KonSearch, you have access to all products from all databases that the university has licensed. Therefore, KonSearch is recommended for the research phase, especially when you are looking for scholarly articles. You can find more information about the research tools here.
As soon as it comes to the research for the thesis, you need qualitative articles from the research. The University of Konstanz has licensed subject-specific databases so that you can search and find current research results in relevant journals. You can access the licensed databases via DBIS in the database information system. In DBIS you will find a list of all databases licensed in the field of economics and the journals they contain. The following databases are a good start to the search for business and academic studies:
Business Source Premier: Using a very detailed search mask, you can search for content from over 10,000 mainly English-language economic journals, with the newer volumes also being available in full text for over 2,000 journals
EconLit: literature database for economics. The most important economic journals are recorded and evaluated in EconLit; there is an abstract for almost all references; Over 480 journals are available with the electronic full texts.
Wiso: The Wiso databases are the relevant social and economic science databases for the German-speaking area. Various data pools can be searched using the Wiso search mask. For economists, the economics data pool is particularly relevant.
Google Scholar: is often used as a starting point and is a general scientific search engine that searches for scientific literature. The advantage is the large database. However, as a beginner in scientific research you have to consider that the hits are not checked for scientific quality and cannot be filtered across departments.
EIKON incl. Datastream is a comprehensive financial information and analysis system that delivers a wide variety of data in near real time. See the following page for more information about data types and training.
The wiso database offers a large selection of German-language press, daily press, weekly press, specialist magazines, popular magazines. You can find the following newspapers in online format in wiso:
