Hi all,

I'm sure this question must have been posted or blogged somewhere, but I can't find it anymore... I guess you might have a clue about it!

How to replace or supercede  default rhino engine which comes along with JDK? I would like to use latest ecmascript features instead of rhino-1.6R2 (if it's still this one) and be able to load commonjs modules. My goal would be to use Narwhaljs thru jsr-223. At the end I would expect using narwhal stuff from Apache Pivot, but don't know if feasible (see for ex. http://ixnay.biz/pivot-tutorials/scripting.html). Pivot seems a good GUI candidate from Narwhal, what do you think?

Just tell me a 2cts tips if time permits.
Thanks,
Best regards,
jg

I think the Narwhal boot scripts are supposed to use the js.jar included in narwhal/engines/rhino/jars/js.jar so you could just replace that with the version you'd like to use.

There were problems with the built in Rhino superseding it but I thought that was fixed with the -Xbootclasspath trick (see narwhal/engines/rhino/bin/narwhal-rhino
