It's been a little while.

If you are no longer working on this, Michael, then perhaps you could open up development and put the source code somewhere for download.

I'd love to continue development.

Yours, sincerely,

-- Giles.

I second this. It would be great for development to continue.

Aye to that.
A relief to learn that this group is still going - just.
I still play occasionally but it would wonderful to have some new challenges and development.  I can't code but willing to help in some other way if I can.

The simulator was our first contact with the narrowboats. Last summer we rented one, using the "skills" obtained with the simulator.  We enjoyed it so much that we are going to repeat this year. So yes, it would be lovely to have it updated and have new locations.

Hey  there,
I just wanted to post here to tell that I'm still reading in the group. I admit that development has paused now for some years already. Still, I haven't given up the project. I do not have plans to let it go open source at the moment. But I won't rule that out for the future either.

Sorry for the long delay. At the moment I dont't dare to post a release date for an update. :-)

...

Now for something a bit different:
I occasionally (three times until now) do hireboat holidays on the canals. For that I had a little route planner personal project on the phone. Last year, I polished that project up for public use. So if you're on the canals and want to play around with this website/app here it is:

The app is a PWA and should be suitable for smartphones/tablets or desktops as well. GPS is helpful. A compass sensor as well.

Wonderful news.  So glad you havent given up, Michael.  We'll just have to be patient, but be assured there are many of us looking fwd to you resuming the project.
Kind rgds,
Tim.
ps.  I was introduced to narrow boats in the 60s while still in my teens.  A group of us would hire one around Easter and explore around the Midlands and NW: Shropshire Union, Staffs&Worcs, Grand Union, Birmingham, etc
They were relatively unknown and underused then, so much has changed but the pleasure is undimmed

Cool little widget.

This is mine: https://yourhelmsman.co.uk/trip
It's been a while since I worked on Oolite, but you can see my older work there. And from my experience I have to say, handing over your work to other, enthusiastic developers isn't anything to be worried about Michael. It's very, very freeing.
