The player from Malaga, one of the most reliable drives on the circuit, is capable of competing against the best despite suffering from type 1 diabetes since he was ten years old, which requires him to keep a strict control of his sugar and glycemia levels at all times.
Despite doctors telling him that he could not perform high-intensity sports after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 10, lex Ruiz broke all schemes by learning to live with his chronic illness to make a place for himself in the elite.
After these successes, he received the call from two legends of the circuit like Seba Nerone and Agustn Gmez Silingo, with whom he matured sportingly and reached four more Challenger finals.
Subsequently, he formed a duo in 20202020 with Martn Snchez Pieiro and Pablo Lij before receiving the call from Franco Stupaczuk, which would represent a qualitative leap in his career.
lex Ruiz rounded off that year with the conquest of the World Padel Championship for National Teams held in Qatar, where Spain won its fourth star by defeating Argentina 2-0. Although the player from Malaga did not play in the final, he did participate in other rounds of a tournament that saw Alejandro Galn, Juan Lebrn, Paquito Navarro, Arturo Coello, Coki Nieto, Javi Rico, and Momo Gonzlez.
After the successes achieved, he continued to pair with Franco Stupaczuk in 2022, but just five tournaments after the start of the season, the Argentine player decided to team up with Pablo Lima, thus causing a breakup that shocked padel fans.
The duo from Malaga generated a spectacular and charismatic padel on the blue court, competing in every match against pairs called to take the titles. Together, they were runners-up in two Master tournaments in 2022 such as Marbella and Madrid.
Moreover, they played the final of the World Padel Championship in Dubai, featuring in the decisive clash against Fernando Belastegun and Sanyo Gutirrez. The experience of the legendary Argentine players was key to defeating them 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 for the title to travel to the Argentine country.
After a difficult course where they struggled to find balance on the 2010 despite being two aggressive players who cover the gaps on the court well, they have not closed the door to continuing together next year in Premier Padel.
Alongside icons like Alejandro Galn and Martita Ortega, the player from Malaga is one of the visible faces of Adidas Padel, which has also wanted to share his story as a high-performance athlete with a chronic illness like type 1 diabetes.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that he competes with the legendary line of paddles Adipower; this 2024 with the renewed Adidas Adipower Multiweight CTRL 3.3, a model that gathers all the conditions to dominate every point on the 2010.
It is an elegant paddle of medium balance that, like the Multiweight 3.3, also features the Weight & Balance system located on the head and edge, with the possibility to adjust the weight and balance of the paddle by up to nine grams.
Being made of the highest quality carbon, this model is characterized by its resistance, durability, and stiffness, and also features high-density rubber to aid in delivering an extra level of power in the shots.
This tournament marks the second Spanish stop for Premier Padel in 2024, following its successful debut as the leading international padel tour, overtaking the World Padel Tour. Founded by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) in collaboration with the International Padel Federation (FIP) and the Professional Padel Association (PPA), Premier Padel has quickly established itself as a major player in the padel world.
The competition in Malaga is classified as a P1 event, which means it will offer more points than the recent P2 event held in Seville. The Seville event saw an impressive turnout of 35,000 fans at the Cartuja stadium, setting high expectations for the upcoming tournament in Malaga.
The Premier Padel tournament will feature several local talents, adding to the excitement for the home crowd. Bea Gonzlez, currently ranked fourth globally, will compete with her partner Delfi Brea. The duo has been on an impressive winning streak, clinching four consecutive titles this year.
With just a month to go, excitement is mounting as padel fans eagerly await the return of Premier Padel to Europe. The tournament promises thrilling matches, top-tier talent, and a vibrant atmosphere at the Martn Carpena arena.

Well, when my father and my mother, he started playing by the Marbella. He really liked it. So, when I was two to three years old, he was starting to develop padel and liking it a lot. Yes. When I when I was around the age of six, seven, he started playing with me. Eight started like coaching just for fun. Yeah. During that time, I was playing football and padel. But in that moment, I liked more football. But when I was 12, I decided to change to padel only, to get a little bit more serious with it. So, well that was it. training every year and improving the tournaments, in the juniors and that was my way.
Well, you do live in the in the country where there are so many more tournaments and the development of players allows for younger players to come through, to learn. When did you get your first coach?
My coach was my father. During all these years until I was 17. Then I went to Madrid, to try to make this step. But my father was my coach during all these years. So, I think my biggest development was with him as a player.
Well, first of all, you need to be lucky because when you choose your partner, your partner needs to like you also, and usually a mutual pick-up. how you say so, yeah, I think you have to be lucky, you have to have a good connection. Inside and also outside, no? I think you have to share lots of things in the day with your partner, and you need to have a good connection. And I think, then when you choose or you start playing you need to make good results.
Yeah, I love it. And when you when you hit a drop shot, is it so I mean, I because I play a lot. And sometimes the pace is fast. You are rushing around? Do you sometimes premeditate the drop shot in your mind? Or is it something that you just invent as it comes?
As Mundo Deportivo has exclusively reported, Spain is expected to remain the epicenter of world padel thanks to Premier Padel next season and will be the country with the most venues, a total of five.
The internationalization is a reality, but will continue to coexist with Spain as the main stage where more tests will be held by the hand of Octagon (Premier Spain) followed by, probably, Italy, Argentina and Mexico.
Undoubtedly, the Finals will be the turning point for professional padel in 2024, providing the opportunity to experience an exceptional weekend with the best couples of the year in one of the most emblematic places of the sport.
A competition that will mark the closing of the annual calendar of Premier events and will be held in December at a venue suitable for the occasion, although the exact venue has not yet been confirmed.
The city of Madrid will continue to be part of the calendar for next season, as it could not be otherwise. Although it will experience a change in its location, as it happened in the first two editions.
Andalusia, together with the Junta, has taken the decision to support this new stage of padel, as it did previously with Padel Pro Tour and World Padel Tour. It even aspires to become the autonomous community with the highest number of tournaments.
Malaga maintains its passion for paddle and is in a privileged position to host one of the two stages with a P1 tournament, ensuring that the international tour will once again visit the cradle of the sport in Europe.
With four events already allocated, unless Andalusia fails to close the second location due to budgetary constraints, there would be one event left to complete the calendar, either with a P1 or P2 competition.
