There are two packages of emulators for Windows Mobile 6.x: Standard Images and Professional Images. Hereafter, this topic assumes that you are installing the standard set, but the instructions are the same for the professional set: simply read "Professional" for "Standard" in the remainder of this topic.

You repair the installation in Control Manager. The exact steps vary with the version of Windows and whether or not you are using the Classic View of Control Manager, but the essentials are the same: Highlight the package of emulator images (it will have a name similar to Windows Mobile 6 Emulator Images) on the list of installed applications and choose the Repair option (it may be called Change). The installation wizard may prompt you again to choose whether to remove or repair the installation. Again, choose repair. The wizard will guide you through the installation.
On the Start menu, select All Programs and then Windows Mobile 6 SDK Standalone Emulator Images. Under this node, select a language and then an emulator image. The emulator will open in a window.
The Azure Cosmos DB emulator provides a local environment that emulates the Azure Cosmos DB service designed for development purposes. Using the emulator, you can develop and test your application locally, without creating an Azure subscription or incurring any service costs. When you're satisfied with how your application is working with the emulator, you can transition to using an Azure Cosmos DB account with minimal friction.
The emulator provides an environment on your developer workspace that isn't capable of emulating every aspect of the Azure Cosmos DB service. Here are a few key differences in functionality between the emulator and the equivalent cloud service.
The Linux emulator currently has limited support for developer machines running on M1 and M2 chips. A temporary workaround is to install a Windows virtual machine and run the emulator on that platform.
The emulator's features may lag behind the pace of new features for the cloud service. There could potentially be new features and changes in the cloud service that have a small delay before they're available in the emulator.
Every request made against the emulator must be authenticated using a key over TLS/SSL. The emulator ships with a single account configured to use a well-known authentication key. By default, these credentials are the only credentials permitted for use with the emulator:
In some cases, you may wish to manually import the TLS/SS certificate from the emulator's running container into your host machine. This step avoids bad practices like disabling TLS/SSL validation in the SDK. For more information, see import certificate.
To put software on the emulator, you need to go to configuration and use share folder. Locate your files and folders for it. Then, on Windows CE click the "SD CARD" in the windows explorer and there you have it! All of the software that you download for Windows CE should be there! You can also put icons on the Desktop too, just remember to save statement!
The Windows emulation environment provides you with a platform for testing and running IMP-NG IMlet suites without having to install those IMlet suites onto an embedded device. This chapter describes running the emulation environment.
The emulator's main screen appears as shown in Figure 1-1. The first tab in the emulator, AMS (Application Management System), displays which Java ME Embedded applications are installed, including those that are currently running or stopped. You can use the buttons on the right side to install or update additional applications, obtain information about the currently selected application, start or stop an application, or remove (uninstall) an application from the AMS.
The GPIO tab lists the emulator's current General Purpose I/O (GPIO) pins and ports, and their directional states (input or output). For GPIO pins, the current value is shown as a color-coded circle on the right side: high is colored green, while low is red. For GPIO ports, the maximum and current value is shown. If a GPIO port or pin is named, it is shown in this tab as well.
To generate input events for General Purpose I/O (GPIO), select the GPIO menu item under the Device menu. This action raises the External Events Generator window. Here, you can toggle the value of each of the pins from high to low and vice versa, and use a wave generator to simulate a more complex signal to the emulator. The GPIO External Events Generator is shown in Figure 1-6:
The Device Manager is started the first time the emulator is started. Its purpose is to manage multiple devices and device storage, so that multiple devices can be emulated without overwriting or colliding with each other.
The Oracle Java ME Embedded platform comes with a number of sample applications. This section describes how to use demos created specifically for the Oracle Java ME Embedded platform. Because IMP-NG is headless, the only user interface is to observe application status in the emulator's external events generator, or in the Output window (or the console if you execute the demo from the command line).

Arcades were venues in which many games were played at, often containing thousands of games. Arcades often got their revenue from players who paid to play games. Most arcade emulators focus on emulating many systems in one program, the scope of which varies between projects.
MAME's purpose is to cover most of these. Older arcades as well as select popular arcade machines, the Neo Geo and Capcom's CPS series, in particular, received their own standalone emulators. Sometimes, they received their own console versions but those are mostly ports, not emulation, with very few exceptions.
Those arcade boards share most of the hardware specifications with existing home consoles, with the addition of a coin slot and occasionally DRM and some changes. While MAME supports most of those, standalone emulators for the base home console are more mature and often (but not always) support the arcade variants.
Why not QEMU? - Readers who have experience with emulation will point outthat QEMU has existed for a long time, and is capable of emulating Cortex-Mtargets. In our experience, QEMU is focused on emulating systems meant forhigher-level OSes (e.g. Linux computers) rather than embedded devices. Todate, it only supports two cortex-M series targets, both made by TI.
One of the advantages of emulators is that they make it much easier tointrospect and trace the device state. One of the more useful hooks exposed byRenode is execution tracing. Provided you fed the emulator an ELF file withdebug symbols, Renode will print out log out every function being executed.
A common example of that last type of emulation is running Windows applications on Linux computers. Virtual PC is another example of an emulator that allows Macs to run Windows XP, though the addition of Boot Camp to next-generation Intel-based Macs has removed the need for that application in the Macintosh environment in the future.
Hardware emulation can be useful when a hardware device or peripheral like a printer, scanner or digital camera becomes obsolete. A printer emulator, for instance, lies within the printer's ROM. In many organizations, legacy applications persist that must still communicate with the device. For this purpose, terminal emulation allows a computer terminal to appear and function like another, usually older type of terminal so that a user can access legacy programs.
