My grandma says its fine but my mom always gets really upset at me whenever I refer to someone as viejo/vieja and tells me to use meyor. Any general consensus on the matter? Edit: to answer some quick questions I'm Costa Rican and I've typically only referred to people as mayor but my grandma almost exclusively use viejo and I just started catching on because of it.
