Towards the end of the Galactic Empire's reign after the death of Emperor Palpatine, ISB officers were entrusted with carrying out Operation Cinder.[d] When that operation fails and the empire collapses, some former ISB officers, such as Moff Gideon, become warlords and part of the Imperial remnants.[15]

At its peak, the Imperial Navy fields millions of warships, including an estimated 25,000 Star Destroyers, fulfilling the Emperor's will throughout the galaxy. The Empire's central warship cadre is well structured and uniformed, but the Imperial Navy suffers against strike craft, largely due to the inadequacies of its own starfighters and point defense. The Empire's focus on size, firepower, and terror comes at the expense of a well-balanced fleet. After its defeat at the Battle of Endor, the Galactic Empire splits up into warring factions, and the Imperial Starfleet along with it. While much of the remnants of the Imperial Navy are later reunited under impressive Imperial commanders, the military organization ceases to exist shortly after the death of the Emperor.

The Imperial Starfighter Corps (ISC) was the starfighter pilot branch of the Galactic Empire. Although the Corps was a component of the Navy,[21] most pilots were assigned to ground operations with the Imperial Army.[22] Some Imperial starfighters include TIE (Twin Ion Engine) fighters, TIE Interceptors, TIE Defenders, TIE Strikers, TIE Silencers (by the First Order), and TIE Bombers. The Corps were scattered after the Battle of Endor (4 ABY).

After the formation of the Empire and the purge of the Jedi, Palpatine declares martial law throughout the galaxy. Those in hiding, or attempting to either flee from or oppose the New Imperial Order, are subject to persecution or death. This is the start of the bloody decades-long Galactic Civil War fought between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance.

The Death Star, a moon-sized battle station with sufficient firepower to destroy an entire planet, is designed to be the supreme weapon of the Empire's power. Tarkin, the station's commander, demonstrates that power in A New Hope when he destroys Alderaan as a show of force.[20] In the film's climactic scene, however, the station is attacked by Rebel starfighters who have come into possession of the station's blueprints. The battle ends with the Death Star's destruction at the hands of Luke Skywalker, which is the Rebel Alliance's first major success against the Empire.[9]

In the Dark Empire comic book series, Palpatine is reborn in a clone body and unites most of the scattered remnants of the Empire (forming the Dark Empire), hoping to retake control of the galaxy. By the sequel, Empire's End, he is defeated and destroyed once and for all. Following the final death of Palpatine, Luke Skywalker, influenced by the force ghost of Obi-Wan Kenobi, starts the New Jedi Order in an ancient temple on Yavin 4, which had undone the Emperor's purge of the Old Jedi Order 28 years earlier at the rise of the Galactic Empire.

In 138 ABY, the Galactic Alliance Remnant led by Admiral Gar Stazi, Fel's forces known as the Empire-in-exile led by Empress Marasiah Fel, and the New Jedi Order led by Jedi Master K'Krukk unite against Krayt's empire and eventually destroy it in the Battle of Coruscant, after a grand total of 157 years of its existence. The three united factions form a new galactic government called the Galactic Federation Triumvirate.

Lucas ultimately decided instead to focus on the Emperor in Return of the Jedi. In that film, the initial conception of Palpatine was superseded by his depiction as a dictatorial ruler adept in the dark side of the Force. The Emperor was inspired by the villain Ming the Merciless from the Flash Gordon comic books.[18] The characterization of Palpatine as an ambitious and ruthless politician dismantling a democratic republic to achieve supreme power is in part inspired by the real-world examples of democratic backsliding during the rise and rule of Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, Alberto Fujimori, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., and Adolf Hitler.[19][20] Other elements of the character come from Richard Nixon.[21][e] Lucas said that Nixon's presidency "got me to thinking historically about how do democracies get turned into dictatorships. Because the democracies aren't overthrown; they're given away."[24] Lucas also said, "The whole point of the movies, the underlying element that makes the movies work, is that you, whether you go backwards or forwards, you start out in a democracy, and democracy turns into a dictatorship, and then the rebels make it back into a democracy."[25]

McDiarmid noticed that the script for Revenge of the Sith demanded more action from his character than in previous films. Lightsaber combat was a challenge to the 60-year-old actor, who, like his costars, took fencing lessons. The close-up shots and non-acrobatic sequences of the duel between Palpatine and Mace Windu were performed by McDiarmid.[42] Advanced fencing and acrobatic stunts were executed by McDiarmid's doubles, Michael Byrne, Sebastian Dickins, and Bob Bowles.[43]

The Star Wars Databank explains that the Force "granted him inhuman dexterity and speed, agility enough to quickly kill three Jedi Masters" (as depicted in Revenge of the Sith).[8] Stover describes the duel between Yoda and Palpatine in his novelization of Revenge of the Sith thus: "From the shadow of a black wing, a small weapon ... slid into a withered hand and spat a flame-colored blade ... When those blades met, it was more than Yoda against Palpatine, more the millennia of Sith against the legions of Jedi; this was the expression of the fundamental conflict of the universe itself. Light against dark. Winner takes all."[132] During the duel, Yoda realizes that Sidious is a superior warrior, and represents a small but powerful Sith Order that had changed and evolved over the years, while the Jedi had not: "He had lost before he started. He had lost before he was born."[133]

What do you guys think would be a good build for the empire? I am in between doing spiritualist or not with something like a death cult/ exalted priesthood or leaning more materialist. I feel like there's a few ways to split off on the build and can't decide.

How to defend against a fighter swarm? I often found enemy fighters just horde over a ship and bombers will follow them up and I seemingly have no way of stopping it. In the vanilla game, placing a tartan (for the empire) in the way would basically take out most of the fighters but it seemingly did nothing when I tried. Unless I did something wrong.

However, unless you were reading trade press titles, like The Hollywood Reporter or Variety, you probably wouldn't have heard that principal photography of "Empire" started early in 1979. Even fewer folk probably knew that George Lucas had imagined a six-movie saga while he was writing the script, which eventually grew to a nine-movie saga. Lucas always had more of a story to tell, but he wasn't sure if "Star Wars" would be successful. It was soon apparent that the box office numbers and licensing opportunities meant that a sequel was inevitable.

The Rebels have just destroyed the death star, and the galaxy is in turmoil. In other words, it's just the time that you, and your Zann Consortium, have been waiting for. Quench your thirst for power as you build and lead your own forces of scum and villainy. Spread corruption throughout the galaxy using new strategic gameplay elements to influence other factions, steal their funds, slow their production, spy on them, and more.

The ultimate prize awaits: an immense Super Star Destroyer known as The Eclipse. Spanning the length of nearly all of the Star Destroyers seen in the original Empire At War, the deadliest capital ship in the galaxy comes equipped with a superlaser rivaling that of the death star. With it under your control, no one will remember the name Jabba the Hutt - Tyber Zann will be the most feared crime lord the underworld has ever seen...

To wrap up the topic of eras, We'd also like to explain how they will affect Skirmish mode. Previously in space Skirmishes in New Order had a clumsy system where the progression of eras went along with the improvement of the station (bad idea, starting units could rush and destroy the enemy station in a few minutes and win), in ground-based Skirmishes eras were not presented at all. We are now introducing a new feature - Single Era Skirmishes: each Skirmish map will be tied to a specific era, the one that best fits the theme, and only units and heroes from that era can be used on it (if possible; for example, for Separatist Remnants, the set for eras 2-5 will be similar to 1). For example, the Endor map would represent Era 2. Tech levels will return to the Skirmishes, acting similarly to the vanilla game in this case.

Hello all,
So recently I've started playing this game again after a while. I play on Windows 10 x64, I have the CD version of the game. Whenever I try to launch the game, it does nothing for at least 30 minutes. The game would launch about at least a half hour after I launched it. The exception error has happened as well. Especially when I try to play the 'Republic at War' mod. I set the compatibility settings to Windows XP (Service Pack 3), I still run into the same issue yet again. This game has worked before. What are some other possible solutions?
Thanks!

\"We're fighting the largest empire in the world, and we're just a bunch of hay seeds in coonskin hats that don't know nothing,\" he says, referencing the American Revolution against the British Empire, and how he based the heroes of Star Wars on real-life rebellions against powerful empires.
