I did have one Dr that told me to do what I wanted, just be sure to be smart about. Too many use their illnesses or circumstances as a way of dying while they are alive. And this is something that I choose not to do. I honestly believe that we all have things we are better at doing. We may not know how we are going to get through the storms, but I do know that God is the beacon in the storm. All I need to do is look at the light and trust in Him.

In the middle of a recent storm in my life, I read Psalm 121, and it really spoke to my heart. That same day I listened to the below Casting Crowns song that a good friend sent me, and it contained part of Psalm 121. I knew my Heavenly Father was speaking to my heart, confirming what I had read that morning! He saw me. He cared. I want to share the song as I close, hoping and praying it encourages your heart. (And you might like to read Psalm 121 too!)

Casting Crowns prays in faith for God to do something about their situation. God responds that He will be with them, choosing not to remove Casting Crowns. Knowing that God has the power to give and take away, Casting Crowns responds with praise and worship amid their pain.

O Lord, God of glory, Father Almighty, I will ever praise you. For you are good and faithful and true. I cry out and you hear me. You surround me and protect me, delivering me from my trials. May I ever sing your praises to all who will hear. Even through the storms and trials of this life, may I keep my eyes fixed on you and rejoice in your glory and majesty. You are bigger than this world, more mighty than any foe I may face, and I worship you with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my strength. Amen.

Man saw their praise in the midst of devastating loss and they were moved. But even more than that, GOD saw their praise in the midst of the devastation and HE rewarded them. What a mighty God we serve.

Yeah, well all hell broke loose in my life, and throughout the last 6 years, God has taken me by the hand and walked me through EVERY SINGLE SITUATION, and with each one of these, I have learned how to praise God through the storm.

Doing these things have taken me from a state of total brokenness, despair, anguish, hopelessness into a life where I can walk through these storms with a renewed sense of hope, joy unspeakable, a peace that goes beyond all understanding and faith that grows with every obstacle.

This literally right here is the number one thing I tell everyone to do when they are facing the most gut-wrenching storms of life. It literally takes you a click or tap of a button to listen to worship music.

I love the power of storms, but sometimes storms scare me. The wind is frightening when it howls through the trees. I hate the sound of the wind and fear smashed windows caused by fallen tree branches. Thunder, when it cracks overhead, simultaneous with the flash of lightning and the flickering of the lights inside, causes me to jump. Rain, as it is driven horizontally by the wind can cause fear as gutters and drains overflow, causing a flood in the backyard as the water has nowhere to go.

I want God to dwell in me and with me as I walk through the storms of life. I want a clear manifestation of His blessings, grace, mercy, forgiveness and love. I want to be able to confidently declare that God is my refuge and strength, my helper who is always found in times of trouble. I will not be afraid even though the earth trembles and the mountains topple into the depths of the seas, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with its turmoil (Psalm 46). Therefore, I will praise Him in this storm.

This top radio hit is a female solo-driven worship ballad with choir backup throughout. The text resonates with people as it is an enduring reminder that our praise should never be silenced by circumstance. Praise in the midst of difficulty is powerful and transformational.

So Father, I do give you praise and honor and glory in the midst of this storm. We thank You that You have a plan even when we cannot see it, and that You promise to bring good out of all things for those who love you and who have been called according to your purpose. We praise You that You are sovereign and despite what we see with our eyes, You will never leave us nor forsake us. You are a good, good Father and You deserve every ounce of our praise and worship. We thank you Abba. We love you and we trust you. Amen.

This is a cover of the song Praise you in this storm by Casting Crowns. This is another song in coherence to the one I just posted beforehand. My desire when worshipping is that others may find hope and peace in the Lord. For a while I've had so many recordings saved but haven't posted any because I began to slowly become insecure about the fabrication and the level of vulnerability of my worship. But I'm posting these, no matter how bad or good, pleasing to man or not, in hopes that my vulnerable brokeness and complete evident weakness may emphasize the strength of the Almighty God and encourage some of you that He's not finished yet :)

With Jonah however, there was a significant process at work. He had to go through the complaining stage first whilst he acclimatised to being in the whale, otherwise I believe the praise would have been quite false.

By morning, the storm cloud had dissipated, the sun was shining, and God delivered a big dose of JOY to my morning. My heart was healed, my home was back in order, and my chaotic JOYFull life was back in full swing. When I looked back on the week and pondered on the course of events, I can see that when I stepped out in faith to do what God called me to do, I experienced trials. That, my friends, is pure JOY!

As a lifelong Mississippian I have been through countless severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings and have ridden out storms in schools and homes a number of times. Last night was the first time a tornado came within a mile of our home with my family inside.

As my children huddled in the bathtub with pillows covering their heads I prayed for the safety of my children and my family and those around us out loud so my kids knew who we can always count on when we encounter a storm in our life. Some tears were flowing from the fear of the unknown that was outside around us and I let them know it was okay to be afraid but it was more important to know who was protecting us.

Lead vocalist Mark Hall says that "Praise You In This Storm" was inspired by the band's experience with a little girl, Erin Browning. The band made arrangements to meet Erin, who had performed a dance at her public school to one of the band's songs, and her family on Valentine's Day 2004 before one of their concerts. Right around the time the band connected with Erin and her family was when she was found to have cancer. Erin died on November 1, 2004. According to Hall, "Watching [Erin's mother] walk through this really showed me truth about my worship. Watching her walk through a real storm showed me that my worship was extremely situational". Hall began writing the song before Erin's death and told her about it, but was not able to complete it before she died.

This song talks about a situation most people go through when they are in grief because something terrible happened. You feel lost, abandoned and powerless. Then you start praying to God, hoping He will help you.

"I was sure by now
God, You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day"

But a prayer is not a magic spell, you ask to God but He will do what's best for you, not necessarily what you wish.

"But once again, I say amen
and it's still raining"

You can pray and pray and sometimes it just doesn't happen. You know God is there, but it's difficult to feel Him when you are in so much pain.

"As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain: I'm with you "

But you just don't give up, and if anything it should bring you closer to Him, not farther away.

"and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm"

And the company of God gives you comfort and makes you feel that you are loved and you are not alone. You trust God, so even if you can't understand the situation, you know that God is always good, so whatever happened has a meaning and you must accept it. Well, of course, if it is a problem you can change, you have to get up and do something about it, but if it's something you can't change (for example the death of a loved one), then you must trust God and find comfort in His company and in the idea that it all is for good or has a meaning you can't grasp.

He finishes quoting the beginning of psalm 121, from the Bible, which is a song expressing a complete trust in God, because He will never allow anything truly bad to happen to you. So by citing this psalm, he finally understands that God is there to protect him, not to send him evil, so even if it still hurts so much, everything's alright.

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
