Hi Betty,
I would recommend she volunteer at an animal shelter. If you are
close to the Irvine Animal Shelter, that has a really nice facility
and a full-service veterinary clinic. They do great training for the
volunteers and supervise them well so that no one gets thrown into a
situation that is too tough. I would also recommend volunteering at
the Shea Center in San Juan Capistrano. It's a therapeutic riding
center that uses horses to help disabled kids. But they always need
help with the horses there and they train the volunteers well also.
That would give her some good large animal experience. If these
places are too far away, what area are you interested in? I can give
you some other recommendations. I've worked with lots of animal
groups over the years all over Southern California. Tell your
daughter I wish her the best of luck.
:) Marie
