We are currently seeking a half-time Certified Peer Specialist to work at our Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) program in Minneapolis. This position is responsible for providing rehabilitative skills training, guidance, encouragement and support for clients. The Certified Peer Specialist will work in the community with recipients of the program to assist them in setting and achieving rehabilitation goals, securing employment, completing paperwork, providing mentorship, and will be responsible for other duties as assigned. The position requires a varied schedule including some day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts for an average of 20 hours per week. As a half-time (0.5 FTE) employee, the incumbent will be eligible for all agency benefits (medical, dental, and life insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid vacation/sick/holiday time, and professional development funds).
The successful applicant must be certified as a Peer Specialist, at least 21 years of age, and possess a high school diploma (or equivalent). They must self-identify as current or past recipient of mental health services and have the ability to meet the MN Department of Human Service rules for qualifications of a mental health practitioner or rehabilitation worker. Experience working with homeless populations and in team environments is required. Experience working with people who have severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), experience or knowledge of chemical dependency issues for adults with mental illness, and some college education is preferred.
