Dear NAPS supporter,
Several people recently asked about the National Association of Peer Specialists (NAPS) membership. Here's a quick update - and if you'll be coming to the National Conference next week, you'll learn more about the current status of NAPS and future plans.....

We stopped collecting dues last year for a few reasons. First, it had become very time consuming and labor intensive to maintain the member database. (NAPS is almost 100% volunteer, and that task alone was taking valuable time that we needed for other purposes,
like the website redesign and the Recovery to Practice project). Plus, we knew that even a small membership fee was beyond the budget of some of the peer specialists and wanted to find a way to stay in touch that was more cost effective for everyone.

With online technology evolving and more people having computer access, we knew it would soon be easier just to have people join an online list. So we stopped printing the newsletter. Again to save time, cost, and to be more "green." Although it's been a little while since we've issued a full newsletter - there is a lot of news, coming soon.

If you're interested in staying informed about what's up at NAPS there are two options. We have a general announcement enews list -- and a separate list for employers to submit job openings (anywhere in the US) and job seekers to see what's listed.

If you're interested, click the appropriate link below to open an email to us and enter SUBSCRIBE in the subject line. We'll send an invitation -- which you will need to accept (to "opt-in," and then you'll continue to receive information from us. It is all free of charge! There's no fee to join.

If you haven't registered for the National Conference yet - don't wait!
The conference starts one week from today!
You won't want to miss it!
September 6-8, 2012
(Updated conference program and registration attached)

Invite peers (and non-peers who are supporting the peer specialist profession).
