This is a very interesting move. Within the new amendments to the
mental heath act, other help professionals are allowed to be approved
clinicians. It will be helpful to have input from non-doctor mental
health staff. However, without any training and certification (as
done for doctors by SHA) in provisions of mental health act, it will
very unethical to allow anybody to practice these sections of mental
heath act. It is a major decision about liberty of a patient and
should not be taken lightly. I am not sure what Richard Jones' manual
say about it, but its worth looking at it.
