About the client:
A dynamically growing start-up, owned by one of world's largest media groups Naspers, is looking for problem solvers to join our team in our cozy office in Beroun (30km away from Prague). We have just launched a cutting-edge TV-on-demand service in South Africa that offers a unique experience which hasn't been yet introduced even by Netflix - a giant provider of on-demand streaming operating all over the world. Our catalogue offers more than 10.000 hours of video content available on all types of electronic devices: laptop and desktop computers, mobile phones, tablets, Smart TVs.
Your Role:
We invite creative developers to help us develop and enhance our core software and to invent something that neither we nor our competitors have thought of yet.
We offer you a possibility to develop a unique for South Africa product from scratch. We are proud to have our own server cloud, APIs and the whole development platform built as Service Oriented Architecture and composed of many small components that talk to each other using REST APIs. We also use a lot of open source software on the platform and our own tools built on top of it.
Javascript is probably the most important part for us.
For one thing, the entire website is a Javascript application running completely in the browser and it's just getting movie data from API, but that's only the beginning. As both the company's web-site is written in JS and all types of apps are JS apps as well, the company's current priority is to bring in-house development for Samsung and LG Smart TVs which are now being developed by 3d party and to start developing apps for other devices such as Chromecast, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows 10, set-top-boxes, etc. So, there will be a lot of cool apps to be done!
- Designing interactive applications;
- Designing and maintaining technical system requirements;
- Developing, testing, debugging and maintaining application code within Online, Mobile, Broadband & Broadcast platforms
- Your qualification:
- Knowledge of not only JavaScript but some other language as well, for example C/C++, Java, Python, Ruby, Erlang REST and JSON are your domains
- Interest in modern web development tools (e.g. Dart)
- Experience with version control (we use GIT)
- Experience with MVC framework (Backbone/AngularJS/Ember etc.)
- Experience with processors (SASS/LESS/Stylus)
- Understanding importance of design for usability of applications
