Hi all,

In honor of Women's History Month (March), invite a female nanoscientist or nanoengineer to virtually visit your classroom!

The National Nanotechnology Coordination Office reached out to female scientists and engineers who are pursuing research in nanotechnology and asked if they'd like to talk to students as part of Women's History Month. They are excited about this opportunity to talk to your students about their career paths and how they use nanotechnology to solve problems.

Would you be interested in this free activity? If so, please fill out the following Google Formhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScblm0LApXLs0wUcXthyKA9Lbvca3xc_DMDhvp3oUeaSV9LOw/viewform, and we will pair you with a female scientist for a one-hour virtual session sometime in March. In the Google Form, you will be able to indicate dates and times that would work best for you and the times when your class starts and ends.

If you have multiple classes to which you'd like to invite a scientist, you will need to fill out the form for each class. We can't guarantee you'll get the same speaker for each class, but we assure you each speaker is a strong communicator who wants to share her experience with your students.

Matching will occur on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you are interested, please don't wait! We'll be checking on a rolling basis and will let you know when you are paired with a scientist. Once you're matched, I will e-introduce you to your guest speaker, so you can share the appropriate virtual classroom link to join your classroom and any additional details you'd want to share.

I look forward to working with you on this exciting opportunity and hope that these sessions will add value to your teaching experience, while also inspiring your students about the value of science and technology in our lives. A similar event was held last year, and it was a big success! Many of the teachers and scientists who participated in it said they enjoyed the experience, and the students were often very engaged during the video sessions.

If you have any questions or would like to receive additional details, please feel free to contact me at: ppa...@nnco.nano.gov.

Best regards,

Patrice
