Hi,

In honor of Women's History Month (March), invite a woman nanoscientist or nanoengineer to virtually visit your classroom!

The National Nanotechnology Coordination Office reached out to women scientists and engineers who are pursuing research in nanotechnology and asked if they would like to talk to students as part of Women's History Month. Those who replied are excited to talk to your students about their career paths and how they use nanotechnology as part of their research work. Each one of them is a strong communicator who wants to share her experience with your students.

Would you be interested in this free activity? If so, please fill out the following Google Formhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScNq6K2VuYZquoNNRV0WAx3t4YpUtg8F-1sI8LvhhdWGjphCw/viewform?usp=header, and we will pair you with a woman scientist for a one-hour virtual session sometime in March. In the Google Form, you will be able to indicate dates and times that would work best for you and the times when your class starts and ends.

To increase the chances that at least one of your available times matches with the scientists' available times, please feel free to indicate multiple times (possibly for more than one class) in the Google Form. Matching will occur on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you are interested, please don't wait! We'll be checking on a rolling basis and will let you know when you are paired with a scientist. Once you're matched, I will e-introduce you to your guest speaker, so you can share the appropriate virtual classroom link to join your classroom and any additional details you'd want to share.

I look forward to working with you on this exciting opportunity and hope that these sessions will add value to your teaching experience, while also inspiring your students about the value of science and technology in our lives. A similar event was held both in 2023 and in 2024, and each event was a big success! We reached out to approximately 1,000 students each year! Many of the teachers and scientists who participated said they enjoyed the experience, and the students were often very engaged during the video sessions.

If you have any questions or would like to receive additional details, please feel free to contact me at: ppa...@nnco.nano.gov.

Best regards,

Patrice
