Hello all,

I am curious about how nanopublications, once they have been published, are actually used. Can you please share your experiences in that regard?

For instance:

- Alice created a set of nanopublications describing several species in a hypothetical ecosystem of a Martian underground lake. Then, she programmatically converted it into a diagram of relationships between these species, and used that in a scientific paper.

- Bob is teaching optimization theory. He has written a few nanopublications with basic formulas of that theory. From those, he builds his LaTeX/Beamer slides for classes.

- Cameron is a CTO deciding on which RDF triplestore to use at her company, she created a nanopublication describing each alternative and then grouped them all into a table. She will evaluate that table with colleagues to arrive at a decision.

What are such use cases when nanopublications are written not for the sake of nanopublishing itself but for the sake of very explicit, known beforehand, knowledge reuse?

Thank you!
Anatoly

Hi Anatoly,

I use nanopubs for describing benchmark results  of RDF systems (these are later aggregated and displayed). I also use nanopubs to describe and categorize RDF streaming systems. I think it would be best to watch my short talk about this on the last nanopub tutorial at ESWC (don't worry, the relevant part is just 10 minutes long): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5LRHdSlX3k

Slides are here (starting at slide 36): https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1sHo9jR3MbzwSthHbRny_TRv7cUmh0fNxcW2WLGjB1G0/edit?usp=sharing
