Uploading sketch using Arduino uno

Hi,

I went through the tutorial on http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/node/235. I uploaded the sketch now the red light is on throughout and doesn't blink.

1. Is that correct.

2. Unlike the Arduino, how to get the nanode recognized by the PC - (Windows 7). It will take me no less than 2 weeks to get the cable here if I was to purchase it online.

3. How do I test the code, seeing that when I open the serial monitor on the Arduino IDE (0022) nothing seems to happen.
