Hi gang,

We have all safely arrived to Lhasa and we have had a few days to acclimatize.  So far so good.

We are currently in our sag wagon driving to Shigatze.  We decided to ride from west to east because of the prevailing winds.  Lhasa is at 3650 m and Shigatze is at 4200 m.

Tomorrow we plan to ride 100 km to Gyantze from 4200 m to 4800 m. - no climb.  Friday we plan to ride 100 km to Nagatse from 4800 m back down to 4200 m but there is a climb to 5050 m.  Saturday we plan to ride 150 km down to Lhasa from 4200 m down 3650 m but there is a climb back up to 4800 m.

The scenery is spectacular and we are all looking forward to riding tomorrow.  The weather is beautiful, blue skies with fluffy clouds.

Tim, tks for the note and please keep us updated on the teams progress, so we can experience the adventure through your commentary.

Safe biking, and looking forward to the next note.

All the best,
Dale

Safe travels all -- I'm jealous but somewhat relieved my own Tibet adventure with the family involved nothing more strenuous than climbing the steps to the Potala Palace. Now in Zhongdian (which renamed itself Shangri-La a couple of years ago to catch tourists) which is lush and beautiful. En route to Lijiang and Yangshuo -- catch as much China as we can before repatriation.

Keep us posted and send cellphone pix!

Guess your cycling will be a little more strenuous than my last two days pedalling around the streets of Nanjing. Pity you the absence of Starbucks though (I am assuming?)

Good cycling – stay healthy

Tibet Team,

Wow – this sounds like 7 Sundays’ riding without a break – and at altitude! – so hope you have a  terrific trip and a safe one.  Look forward to hearing about it in due course.

Paul
