We made it to Gyantze. It was exactly 100 km from Shigatze. However, since our bike computers were not all calibrated the same, some of us had to do a loop around this small town of 80,000 people.
The ride was okay. It would have been difficult doing it solo but when you have a team of 9 guys sharing the work upfront, it made the ride manageable. However, our decision to go from west to east didn't turn out so great today because the wind changed and we fought the wind the entire ride.
The scenery was beautiful and the people we met along the way were so friendly.
Tomorrow is the big climb day. Another 100 km. Starting at 40 km we go over three passes in 20 km, with the last pass at 5050 m. At 60 km, we believe it will be a downhill ride to Nagatze.
Only 250 km to Lhasa.
The gang of nine.
