We started with gentle 40k run around the holy lake (with short off-road short-cut), climb up to the 4800m pass, and then 1200m of decent over 23k through sets of switchbacks. Fast!
We didn't envy the guy we saw near the bottom with a fully laden bike.
Then a long steady run up the valley into Lhasa, with the wind behind us. Bernie led us into town, dodging buses, taxis, cows, for a photo stop in front of the Pokara. Tim made us do a lap of town to find an icecream (or perhaps to complete the century).
All 9 made it safely back, no injuries, no breakdowns, 1 flat tyre, and well earned beer.
Stats: 161km (100 miles!!), ascent 300m, highest point 4800m,continuous decent 23km, top (recorded) speed 64k/h (Tim)
Today, heavy rain overnight doused any thoughts of early morning rides, and now we are taking our various routes back to Shanghai, and further.
A great trip, and big thanks to Bernie for organising everything, including the excellent weather.
