  1. Thank you to all the people who sent in recollections and memories for last Saturday's Memorial and Celebration of Nancy Backstrom's life. Seeing so many friends and students of hers come together to celebrate and remember her life was a deep source of joy and consolation.  I compiled many of those memories people sent in as well as some photos from the event and from throughout Nancy's life and her artwork and placed them online at this new website:
  2. A friend of Nancy's lost her prescription eye-glasses at the memorial service, possibly in the studio near the guest book.  If anyone saw or accidently picked up a pair of eye-glasses please respond to this email asap and I can arrange to return them. The glasses had rectangular frames with light green temples (the part that goes over your ears), with combined reading and long distance + astigmatism prescriptions, she really needs them back!
  3. Many people have mentioned that they would like a way to keep in touch or reconnect with friends of Nancy and with former students in order to continute making art together. To avoid publically sharing everyone's email addresses I set up a google-group mailing list and webpage that can be used for this purpose. If you want to keep receiving contacts and announcements please follow this link to join the new mailing list (you may need to create an username and password):
