No…The Pump Room is NOT closing at this time. HOWEVER…The Ambassador East Hotel is very close to being sold to The Ian Schrager Hotel Group. Creators of the boutique hotel concept and Studio 54 fame, the Schrager Group has not yet released its plans for the renovation and fate of The Pump Room, but it is generally known that “fine dining” has been redefined in most luxury hotels.
They are downsizing expenditures in every area of the hotel and it is my understanding that there will be No music in The Pump Room while renovation plans are being considered.
It is our genuine hope that Mr. Schrager’s architects and designers create their fantastic magic while still preserving the glamorous history of this important part of Chicago created October 1st, 1938.
