Our closing night at The Pump Room was absolutely incredible…so many wonderful friends, so many wonderful memories for us! The Staff and Management at The Pump Room thank you as well, as everyone awaits their fate at the hands of the prospective new owner of the Ambassador East Hotel, Ian Schrager.
When the time comes to rally, I hope many of you will join me in communicating to the Schrager team this message: YES, renovate. YES, bring in a fresh new prospective, but DO NOT entirely demolish the essence of the Pump Room and its vital link to Chicago history.
It’s never been about us or any other musician that has played this venue. It is solely about the room itself and its 72 year history, and if anyone can combine the old world glamour and the new world vision, Schrager can.
