Curriculum

Many of our parents are very involved with the education of their
child and are used to selecting what is taught. For that reason they
are very familiar with many different sources and want to know what we
are using. I recognize that we have provided answers that seem
sufficient for us, but may not be what you want to know.

The reason is that the questions are often taken to mean that you want
to know everything. I am sure you can imagine the difficulty in
meeting with dozens of parents and walking them through every text we
are using. For that reason I need you to follow a process if you have
questions regarding curriculum.

#1 - Read the charter. I know it is long and takes a while to
download, but it is the start of understanding how we will teach.
#2 - Read the information on the web site. It is really a repeat of
the charter but may help clarify.

I am not the best prepared to answer the curriculum questions because
I have not prepared them. I will tell you what I know and we can start
there.

In the grammar grades we will be using Saxon math. We are aware that
Saxon has problems when it comes to word problems and we will have to
supplement some areas. You can go to this website for more

In the grammar grades we will be using Direct Instruction for language
arts. You can go to this website for more information. www.nifdi.org.

If you have specific concerns let me know. We are not inviting
discussion regarding what we are using, but if I can help answer a
