to Nampa Classical Academy Information
One of the many tasks that we had to take care of that hadn't been
resolved was signing a contract with the Nampa School District for
open enrollment. We had 2 students who were enrolled in music classes
at NSD before our classes start and they need us to sign the contract
so that they would get credit.
We called this special meeting to approve and sign that contract.
Apart of the discussion regarded how our academy would be reimbursed.
The reason for this question is that because of our schedule the
educaitonal classes most likely taken would be in addition to our
normal class periods. This means we are accounting for the entire days
credit for reimbursement from the state. The additional classes would
require us to pay for it out of our general fund. At this point any
sports we have will have to be self-sufficient so our students would
have to pay for the sport. Since our students would have to pay to
play it would also make sense then to have students who try out for
sports at NSD schools to also pay for that so that we aren't taking
money we wouldn't have spent for sports out of a very tight budget.
It was decided to research the impact and process of having parents
pay for the dual enrollment. We will review at a later board meeting
and create a policy to address it.
I do caution any student who is thinking of trying out for a cut sport
in the Nampa district. My understanding is that you have to pay to try
out (actually they make NCA pay) and then if they cut you they keep
the money. I am not aware of any charter school student that has made
a cut team.
We also had a parent group approach us to offer a Shooting and
Marksmanship team at NCA. They gave a very informative presentation.
We gave them the approval to develop the concept and create their
structure. Once completed they will come back to the board for final
approval.
