The uniform you purchase should not be easily identifiable as
different then the uniforms purchased from approved vendors. Many
suggestions have been made including using TS Embroidery who can order
to fit. Not every child is going to fit in the sizes that are
available from the approved vendors. Again enforcement of the policy
will be done with common sense.
Should we allow a child to wear red instead of blue because there were
problems buying the uniforms? No.
Should we allow a child to wear a uniform that was purchased from
another vendor and the color is slightly different? That is a decision
to be made on a case by case basis by the Headmaster..
Again the Headmaster is not going to police uniforms. If your child's
clothes stand out as different it will be noticed and a resolution to
solve the situation will be worked on.
Our intent is to not create a hardship for the parents or to be overly
stringent. I realize that information coming from the board has
certainly made it seem that way. The easiest thing for us would be to
just pick one vendor and require all uniforms to be purchased from
there. There wouldn't be any questions. This is the way that many
schools do it. Instead the uniform committee wanted to try and provide
options in case there were sales or cheaper options.
Our primary concern is to not start at the lowest point and allow
anything that somewhat resembles the uniform because it will only get
worse from there. Rather we want to make every attempt to have every
uniform match the standard, knowing that slight differences might
happen.
Once we get past the first go around with the uniforms it will be a
lot easier and we will all have learned a great deal about how to do
it without so many problems. I haven't been involved in this process
and I haven't really had the interest to look at all the different
styles. My wife is thankfully taking care of the uniforms for our
family.
There are many who haven't had problems and the children are excited
to wear their uniform, of course others are seriously doubting if they
want to attend if it is going to be this hard. I certainly don't want
to see that. I also don't want it to be that hard.
If you have a suggestion for me on how to make the process easier
please e-mail me. I am not looking at changing the policy, just
finding better ways that we can communicate about the uniforms. Should
we have a uniform party where a group can all go shopping together? If
you have similar ideas let me know. We try to have meetings but many
can't make them.
